Do I need to turn on data roaming for my eSIM?
RoamingSettingsDataUpdated June 21, 2026
Quick answer
Yes. A travel eSIM connects to a local partner network as a roaming guest, so Data Roaming must be ON for the Movia line. Because your plan is prepaid, enabling roaming will not generate any extra charges.
This is the single most common reason a travel eSIM appears "dead" on arrival. Turning on Data Roaming for the eSIM line is required and is completely safe with a prepaid plan.
On iPhone
- Settings → Cellular → select the Movia eSIM line.
- Turn on Data Roaming.
On Android
- Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → select the Movia eSIM.
- Turn on Roaming.
Worried about charges? You can't be billed extra — a Movia plan is a fixed prepaid data bucket. Roaming just lets it attach to the local network.
